Our Year 5s visited the Stephen Joseph Theatre to learn about film making and to try it out for themselves! We were even mentioned on the Into Film site. Take a look here!

March 2015

Our extreme reading entries were judged and Thomas Laxton was the lucky winner :) Our entries are now up in Whitby Library if you want to see them.

Continue to look at our Facebook page and Twitter feed to see what we have been up to.  We have a new blog coming soon which will enable you to look at all of the ICT work we have been doing in school.

January 2015

We have launched our 'Extreme Reading' competition this month.  The challenge is to read in an unusual location, and then send us your picture via e mail, put it on our Facebook page, Tweet us or simply bring it into school :).  Look out on our Facebook and Twitter pages for some imaginative entries!

We close for Christmas at 3.15 today.  Don't forget that we open again on Wednesday 7th January.

November 2014

In November we were visited by the Carbon Reduction Officer 'Powerdown Pete' who told us all about climate change and what we can do to help our planet.

 

 

 

 

We also raised money for Children In Need by dressing in pyjamas!

This month we were visited by TV weatherman Paul Mooney who helped us with our whole school topic about the weather. 

 

 

 

 

As we have become a 'Beach School' this year, all of our classes have been visiting the beach and completing some of our '50 things to do on West Cliff beach' Here are some of their activities :

Surf Crazy! 18.06.14

Our Year 6 children are taking weekly surf lessons with Whitby Surf School. We are 2 lessons in now, and some children have already stood up! We will be surfing like professionals by the summer holidays!

Cycling Adventures!

Our Year 5 children are in training for a 2 day cycling expedition in Dalby Forest! We have learned how to put up a tent, and have been developing our cycling stamina ........

 

Fairtrade Afternoon 26.02.14

 

West Cliff's annual Fairtrade Day took place on Wednesday 26th February where children (and their parents) found out lots of information about the benefits of choosing Fairtrade products. There was an assembly in the morning for older pupils, kindly delivered by staff from Sainsbury's, and then a wide range of family activities in the afternoon, including tower building, sundae making, chocolate-bar designing and lots and lots of food tasting! Thank you to everyone who took part.

 

Flamingo Fun!!

 

On Friday 7th February the whole school went to Flamingo Land to learn about African animals. We had a fabulous day. We almost lost one of our staff as she was mistaken by a sealion as one of their family due to the strange noises she makes!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Welcome Back!!

Welcome back to another new term at West Cliff. Our whole school topic for this term will be Africa. If you have anything that you think would support us with this topic then please pop into school. We will be holding a themed day that parents will be invited to later in the term.

 

New Safety Surface!!

 

If you have not already, go and look at the new safety surface we have had installed under our play equipment. We have even managed to include our whale!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Winning House Trip

 

Green house had a fantastic winning trip to the 'Ice Factor' in York. Well done for collecting the most tokens this term.

 

 

 

 

 

Nativity

 

Thank you to all the parents (and extended family) that came to pack the church for our nativity. I hope you had a lovely time.

 

 

 

 

 

Paddy in the Morning (Yorkshire Coast Radio!) 16.12.13

 

We were visited by Paddy today to record a few lines for 'Twas the night before Christmas' Listen out for us on the radio!! Our choir recorded the jingle and sang a Christmas Carol. Keep listening in a morning to hear us!
