Welcome to West Cliff Primary

West Cliff Primary School is a warm and friendly community school that provides education from children aged 2-11. It currently has approximately 200 children on roll, divided into 9 classes (one for each year group & Rockpool).

One of our classes is a nursery class that takes children from 2 years old.  The school mainly takes children from the west side and the centre of Whitby - but is accessible from all parts of the town.

We pride ourselves on providing a warm and welcoming environment for children and adults alike, and we strive to provide the very best standard of education possible for our children.

The school has a before and after school club (The Ocean Fun Club), offering wraparound care for children from 7.45 until 5.15.  This is open to all children including our nursery children.  Prices are £2.50 for breakfast and £2.50 per hour after school.  Please book a place using the My Child at School app.

YEAR 5 Lealholm Visit 🚂🍃🌳🌞🍦 Yesterday, as part of our Geography unit on Rivers, Dolphin Class travelled by train to Lealholm. We spent the day exploring a small part of the River Esk alongside some of the children from Lealholm School. Throughout the day, we hunted for mini beasts in the water and used identification keys to work out what they were. We also worked in groups to build and race a raft, before ending the day with a delicious ice cream. The sun shone and we had a lovely time ☺️

🏄‍♂️🌊 Year 6 Beach Day 🌊🏄‍♀️ The waves may have been flat calm yesterday afternoon but that didn't stop Year 6 from having a fantastic time in the water! ☀️ The children took on the role of rookie lifeguards, practising rescue skills and safely "saving" each other before hopping onto the surfboards for some paddling and balance challenges. With plenty of splashing, laughter and teamwork, we proved that you don't need big waves to have a brilliant afternoon at the beach. From rescue games to surfboard antics, everyone threw themselves into the activities and made the most of the beautiful conditions. A great afternoon of building confidence, learning new skills and making memories with friends! 🌊😊

🌊Beach Day Adventures! 🔥 What a fantastic day at the beach yesterday for Years 4, 5 and 6! Dolphins and Seals became real outdoor survival experts as they learned how to use flint and steel to create sparks and start fires safely. Working together, they built and managed fires using the fire box before putting their new skills to delicious use! The beach was filled with the smell of freshly cooked bread, hot dogs and pizza pockets as everyone enjoyed the rewards of their hard work.
