📚🌞 Summer Reading Challenge 2026 Launch! 🌞📚 This morning, we were delighted to welcome representatives from Whitby Library to West Cliff School to launch the Summer Reading Challenge 2026. The assembly was full of excitement as children learned all about this year's challenge and discovered the fantastic opportunities that await them at their local library over the summer holidays. Reading is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children, opening doors to new worlds, adventures and opportunities, and we hope as many children as possible will take part. A huge thank you to the team from Whitby Library for delivering such an engaging assembly and inspiring our children to keep reading throughout the summer break. We can't wait to hear about all the books, characters and adventures our pupils discover during the challenge. 🌟 Transition Day Success – Part 1 🌟 What a wonderful morning we have had at West Cliff School! The school has been full of smiles, laughter and the buzz of learning as children spent the day getting to know their new classes, staff and routines. Throughout the school, there has been plenty of singing, dancing, drama and exciting learning opportunities, helping to make the transition experience a positive and memorable one for everyone involved. We are especially proud to celebrate 100% attendance across the school today – a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the enthusiasm our children had for the day ahead! 🎉 A huge thank you to our families for your support in helping the children prepare for this important step, and an equally heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff team for their hard work, commitment and care in making the day such a success. We are incredibly proud of how well the children embraced the changes, showing confidence, resilience and positivity throughout the day. 🚀🌟 West Cliff School Goes on a Space Adventure! 🌟🚀 This afternoon, we were delighted to welcome Groby Theatre Group from Leicester to West Cliff School for a fantastic interactive performance all about space! The children were taken on an exciting journey through the universe, meeting astronauts and aliens, building spaceships, collecting radioactive asteroids, and travelling to lots of different planets along the way. There was plenty of singing, dancing and audience participation, with some memorable contributions from our staff too—including dancing from Mrs Lawn and a lively game of charades led by Mrs Taylor! 🌍👽🛸 Our pupils watched brilliantly throughout the performance and really immersed themselves in the adventure. We were especially proud of everyone who volunteered to join in, showing fantastic bravery, courage and confidence in front of their friends. A huge thank you to Groby Theatre Group for bringing such energy, fun and imagination to our afternoon.
